Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
|
|
- What products do you use?
We continuously research and test new products and choose those that offer both low risk and effectiveness regardless of the cost. A typical treatment will integrate the use of synthetic pyrithrin and natural pyrithrin insecticides along with baits, borate, and insect growth regulators as applicable.
- Is the treatment safe ?
Safety is our number one priority. We use only Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registered products. To ensure that health risks from pesticide exposure are acceptable, the EPA requires that potential exposures to pesticides be well below relevant toxicological levels. Labeled dose rates are typically at least 100 times less than the no toxicological effect level. In addition it is our policy to perform precision treatments using the least toxic of the effective products sparingly. For additional safety we may ask that you remain out of the treated area for a little while.
- Will my pets be O.K.?
At the dose and rates used, the same safety factors for humans apply for most mammals. However, birds, reptiles and fish may have a greater sensitivity and higher risk to some products requiring additional precautions.
- Will rain effect my treatment?
Treatments are normally applied close to the structure where the roof over hang offers protection from weather. We also choose products specially formulated to be weather resistant or moisture activated. In severe weather we will postpone your service until the next available nice day.
- Do I need service in winter?
Winter is an excellent time for us to inspect and treat attics and crawl spaces for pests that over winter as adults and to prevent future problems. We may also apply insect baits and traps, perform rodent control, treat spiders, caulk pest entry points, repair vent screens, and other cultural pest management techniques.
- Do I need to be home?
It depends on the pest. Typically, we will need access to the interior for the initial service and the winter service. Most routine general preventive services are outdoor treatments and you would not be required to be home.
