Bed Bugs

When it comes to eliminating Bedbugs, there is no “Silver Bullet”. Good old fashioned hard work, commitment, and persistence is needed. They may be tough, but we’re tougher.

Most experts will agree. A successful Bedbug Program requires an Integrated Pest Management approach. The Pratt Pest Management solution includes a combination of:

  • Thermal Eradication using our Mobile Heat Chamber
  • Thorough surveys and monitoring
  • Exclusion and pest proofing
  • Careful use of approved insecticides
  • Education and Training
  • K-9 Detection as needed

The common bedbug (Cimex lectularius) is the best adapted to human environments. It is found in temperate climates throughout the world and has been known since ancient times.

Adult bedbugs are reddish brown, flattened, oval, and wingless. Adults grow to 4 to 5 mm (one-eighth to three-sixteenths of an inch) in length Newly hatched nymphs are translucent and lighter in color and continue to become browner and molt as they reach maturity.

Bedbugs are generally active only at night, and their peak attack period is usually roughly an hour before local dawn.

Bedbugs have not been linked to the transmission of any disease and are not regarded as a medical threat.

Bedbugs are often spread by hitchhiking in peoples luggage or used furniture.

Until recently bedbugs were nearly eliminated from the United States through the wide use of insecticides that are no longer available.
